Professor Russell Razzaque is a Consultant Psychiatrist in the NHS and also a Professor of Relational Psychiatry at SOAS, University of London. He is, Clinical Director for Relational Care and Director of Research & Development at North East London NHS Foundation Trust. He is also a mindfulness teacher, an Open Dialogue trainer and a Bye Fellow at the University of Cambridge.
At a national level, Russell is also the Clinical and Strategic Director of the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health, at the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Russell’s primary teaching and research interests are mindfulness, therapeutic relationships and relational models of care. He has published a range of papers in peer reviewed journals, implemented pilot teams in several NHS Trusts and was one of the originators and clinical lead for the ODDESSI trial, a large NIHR funded, multi-centre randomised controlled trial, studying the implementation of Open Dialogue in the NHS.
Russell also writes political columns for national and international publications like The Guardian and The Independent, has published several books on human psychology, philosophy and politics and produces regular YouTube videos on his subjects of interest too.
